Study questions 'huge variation' in RGF job costs

The NAO has reported huge variations in the cost of creating new jobs from the economic growth programme,casts doubts on its value.

Huge variations in the cost of creating new jobs from the Government's flagship economic growth programme have cast doubts over its value for money, the National Audit Office (NAO) has reported.

In its study into the first two rounds of the Regional Growth Fund (RGF), published on 11 May, the spending watchdog claims 41,000 new jobs will have been delivered at an average cost of £33,000.
