Two Surrey borough council chief executives have left their roles. Waverley BC chief executive Mary Pett née Orton, who was secretary of the Association of Local Authority Chief Executives, has reached an undisclosed settlement while Guildford BC chief executive David Hill has also left his authority. Guildford BC has agreed to the creation of a new senior management structure, replacing the current roles of chief executive and three strategic directors with those of a managing director, six executive heads of service and six heads of service. Sue Sturgeon, formerly a strategic director and Guildford's chief financial officer, has been appointed as Guildford's new managing director. Waverley BC leader Robert Knowles said the settlement with Mary Pett allowed the council to ‘save a senior post and a significant amount of money while allowing Mrs Pett to concentrate on developing her career'. Cllr Knowles said: ‘We wish Mary success in the future.'
