Local government employers need to take charge of communicating the message on pension reforms, since scheme members do not understand the current review, a survey of 2,000 public sector staff has indicated.

Conducted on behalf of pension consultant, Hymans Robertson, polling showed many members of public sector pension schemes (28%) did not understand proposed changes arising from Lord Hutton's inquiry, while one-third claimed to be unaware a review was taking place.
