Brighton and Hove is considering a council tax increase of up to 3.5% next year as part of plans to protect services to its most vulnerable residents.

Cabinet member for finance, Cllr Jason Kitcat, said: ‘We believe this small rise is needed to protect vital services that support older people and children, who stand to suffer because of excessive and unnecessary cuts imposed by the Government.'
