The taxpayer may have to pay a £42.8m funding shortfall for the Information Commissioner, due to changes to EU data protection law.
The commons justice committee warned the commissioner's role is set to increase 'dramatically' as a result of the changes. It comes as the commissioner has cut freedom of information work by 23%, saving £1m, with plans for a further 6% cut next year.
