The innovative Web project, Kent TV, has had almost 60,000 people tuning in since its launch in September. The county council-funded broadband TV service is a first in the UK, and was hailed as ‘brave and cool' by Sir Bob Geldof, whose media company, Ten Alps, operates it on behalf of the council. Six weeks after its official launch, figures show there have been 59,453 visits to the Web channel. And it's not only some of the 1.6 million residents who are logging on. Viewers from across the UK, Europe, China, Australia and the US have tuned in. Leader of the council, Cllr Paul Carter, said: ‘It's early days, but the viewing figures are very encouraging and we are delighted that so many people are using Kent TV to access news, information and features about Kent. ‘Kent TV has really come into its own as a source of up-to-date, reliable information regarding the recent hospital bug incident.'
