A survey of service providers indicates that local government cuts, falling parental income and rising operational costs threaten the sustainability of out-of-school programmes. The research indicates, however, that few before- or after-hours children's programmes have yet suffered from the cuts agenda, because so few schemes receive public funding in the first place.
