Eric Pickles urged to 'cut his biscuit bill'.

As Britain teeters on the brink of a triple-dip recession, there are encouraging signs that confidence and public spending could yet be on the rise: Diary hears news that the DCLG has increased its biscuit bill.

According to reports, the department's hospitality snack bill shot up by £10,000 last year, with some predictably blaming communities secretary Eric Pickles personally for such lavish hob-nobbing.
