Torbay Council is attempting to claw back part of a tribunal payout, after it was found guilty of unfair dismissal. Former council manager, Matthew Harper, was hounded out of his job after blowing the whistle on colleagues about irregularities over a tendering process for refuse lorries. A tribunal found he had been unfairly dismissed and awarded him £208,000. But the council claims there was a discrepancy with the award and are seeking to reclaim some of the money. The MJ was unable to contact Mr Harper before going to press.
