The Conservatives have taken control of Mendip DC, following a by-election in Glastonbury last week. John Brunsdon was returned as district councillor for the St Edmund's ward, which now means that the Tories have 24 seats, while the Liberal Democrats have 22, and there is also one independent Conservative.
