Call to transfer sector fraud fight to Home Office

Respondents to the consultation on the draft Local Audit Bill say the Home Office should combat financial fraud against councils.

National responsibility for combating financial fraud against councils should be transferred to the Home Office, following abolition of the Audit Commission – respondents to the consultation on the draft Local Audit Bill have suggested.

Local authorities provided almost three-quarters of the 162 responses to the consultation of the draft Bill, the DCLG revealed in a summary of responses issued last week.
