Tribal has bought a majority stake in the Northern Ireland-based consultancy, HELM Corporation. The company, now known as Tribal HELM, will form a new practice area within Tribal's existing consultancy business. All of HELM's senior management team will remain in place, and no staff losses are planned. The firm was formed in 1990 and is now one of the leading professional consultancies in Northern Ireland. It also has offices in Dublin, Dhaka, London and the east Midlands. Through the Africa Tribal HELM organisation, it also has associate companies in Ethiopia, Malawi and Uganda. HELM International was created in 1995 and has operations in New Zealand, South Africa, Croatia and Nepal. The International wing also has strong relationships with the World Bank, the EU and the Department for International Development, which will all provide new opportunities for Tribal's existing services. ‘We are delighted that HELM has decided to join Tribal,' said Tribal chief executive, Peter Martin. ‘It complements our consulting offering and provides a platform for Tribal's planned international expansion. ‘HELM is a high-quality business, run by an excellent management team, and there is a strong cultural fit with Tribal's focus on improving the delivery of public services and working in partnership with our clients.' HELM chief executive, Sean Sweeney, said: ‘This is an exciting time for HELM. We share the same values of helping to improve the quality and value for money of essential public services. ‘As part of Tribal, we will have greater access to major contract opportunities and be able to offer our clients a broader range of expertise and services.' Tribal has more than 2,000 staff in 40 offices around the UK, and works with 2,500 public sector organisations.
