Employment tribunal cases have risen by 15% in 2006-07, thanks to a 155% increase in equal pay claims against local authority and NHS employers. This is a rise of 115,039 in 2005-06 to 132,577, according to figures released by the Tribunals Service. There were also rises in age discrimination, unfair dismissal and race discrimination cases. ‘We have been working to ensure that all equal pay claims are progressed as efficiently as possible,' said Jeanne Spinks, chief operating officer of the Tribunals Service.
