Diary has had enough. The local government family has experienced tough times of late what with the funding cuts handed down by Uncle Pickles. And in these difficult times, it's more important than ever for councils to stick together. The latest row between Tower Hamlets LBC and Newham LBC has made Diary feel like a child caught in the middle of a bitter divorce. The two councils have been at each other's throats for months and all we want now is for the shouting to stop. In the latest development, Newham accused Tower Hamlets of breaking a promise not to comment on how it ran its affairs. Diary is often told not to be so childish but perhaps a few other members of the local government family need to look at themselves first. It will probably take a while – maybe even an election – but we are confident that everyone will eventually be able to get along again. If anyone wants us, we'll be in our room until the arguing stops.
