The Parliamentary Ombudsman criticises the Planning Inspectorate over refusing to pay compensation over mistakes.

The Parliamentary Ombudsman has criticised the Planning Inspectorate for refusing to pay compensation over mistakes which left members of the public incurring extra costs.

‘The Planning Inspectorate's decision not to compensate individuals who were left out of pocket because of the inspectorate's own mistakes was unfair, unjust and a false economy,' said ombudsman, Dame Julie Mellor.
