Homes which are not fit for families' needs lead to rows, sleep deprivation and poor educational attainment, a new study claims. The report by the Family and Parenting Institute calls on local authorities and their housing partners to ‘recognise that where you live has a major effect on your family and relationships'. Claire James, author of the study, said: ‘It's time for the housing industry to wake up and realise. ‘It's not about having the luxury of extra space, rather it's the necessity to make sure that children have the space to play and to do their homework.'
