More than 200 councils have been accused of failing to support Remploy factories employing disabled workers.

More than 200 councils have been accused of failing to support Remploy factories employing disabled workers by the trade union lobbying MPs to save them from closure.

The GMB urged MPs to support the 54 Remploy factories during a debate on their future in the House of Commons on 15 December. According to the union, all of the factories are at risk of closure – a move which could result in up to 4,000 job losses, due to government plans to end their public funding from April 2013.
