Trade unions were due to lobby Parliament yesterday over planned changes to the local government pension scheme. Representatives from Unison and the T&G demanded equal treatment for all scheme members across the UK and no increased contributions, without improved benefits. But Local Government Association chairman, Lord Bruce-Lockhart, said the scheme needed to be fair to both employees and taxpayers alike.
