Whitehall trade unions have vowed to intensify sub-national campaigns against the coalition government's job cuts, fearing heavy impacts on local economies caused by job losses, such as those at the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
With the dust settled on the Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR), departmental ministers have urged senior staff to expedite Whitehall business plans outlining how they will implement an average 33% reduction in central administration budgets and spending cuts of up to 30% over four years.
