Universal credit 'could hit single-parent families'

According to a report released this week universal credit will not meet the Government's aim for single parent families.

Universal credit will fail to fulfil the Government's aim of providing all working single-parent families with a route out of poverty, according to a report released this week.

Struggling to make ends meet, published by the single parent charity Gingerbread, warns that a single parent with a median salary might actually be worse off working full-time hours – compared with part-time – under the new system.
