The backlash over Conservative leader David Cameron's calls to reduce the number of grammar schools continues, with one council calling for more, not less, in their county. Buckinghamshire CC's leader, David Shakespeare, has written to shadow education secretary, David Willets, stating the council will not only keep its grammar schools, but wants to be able to provide more. ‘I would ask for your commitment to supporting existing grammar schools to expand and, where a wholly-selective system exists, to allowing new grammar schools to be built when additional places are required,' he wrote.
