A shift to prevention creates a chance to reimagine leisure focused on active wellbeing, writes Ian Fytche.

Prevention is a key theme running through public policy development in the UK. A 10-year health plan, public service reform, devolution, local government reorganisation, and the focus of the Comprehensive Spending Review all chart a course to a preventative future designed to transform services, manage service demand and improve outcomes for people and places.

The prominence of prevention reflects an urgent national and local priority: to reform public services to improve the health of the nation, boost economic productivity, reduce inequality, and balance the books.
