Full marks to David Cameron - ok he had a message to impart to the nation & just by chance there was a BBC reporter in the audience to ask a question - but it sent a very strong message around the relative value of local government!The big message was - on pensions we mean business & we will be pressing ahead with reform, but the big surprise was the statement that for those public sector workers who are close to retirement age they will still retire on practically the same terms as they would expect to now!The PM even took questions - not sure that was entirely wise given the rambling nature of one ot two, but Mr Cameron was joined on the stage by Eric Pickles, Greg Clarke plus the new Chairman & Conservative Group LeaderCllr Jane Scott, Leader of Wiltshire, looks mighty impressed with a question being posed to DC!
