Warwickshire CC has been weather-watching to see how it affects its services. Working with University of Warwick Masters student, Lili Fu, it has pulled together a report assessing the impact of a changing climate and extreme weather events on the delivery of public services. Summer floods in 2007 cost the council £1.7m in response services, while storm damage from high winds over the last five years has cost the council £133,000. Warwickshire's environment spokesman, Cllr Martin Healey, said: ‘As weather events become more intrusive, their effects need to be understood and prepared for, in order that we can continue to deliver high-quality services in Warwickshire. This report is a crucial first step in achieving this.'
