Be wary of labels

The complexity of life is such that we are always casting around for executive summaries. We want the short cuts. We’d love to read the details of the budget (at least some of us would) but we’ll be satisfied with the nutshell version.

Increasingly, Twitter is fulfilling the function of giving us the news. It may not be entirely accurate but in just 140 characters, it’s good enough. That level of accuracy is okay for most developments that don’t affect us directly.
