Waste collection and disposal costs could be up to 50% more expensive than they need to be because of complex PFI contracts, a leading waste chief has warned. Cyrille du Peloux, chief executive of Veolia, said the Treasury's insistence on separating out contracts to encourage more bidders would be ‘a nightmare', with companies arguing over their responsibilities.
