Local government has a new website devoted to news, views and information on local authorities across the UK. LocalGov.co.uk is unveiled this week – as seen in the wraparound on the cover – and has been developed by the publisher of The MJ and sister titles Municipal Year Book, Surveyor and RDA News. The new site includes all the data from MYB, as well as news from The MJ and Surveyor, plus a daily update of national newspaper sites. The MJ's editor, Michael Burton, said: ‘Our aim is for this to be the first online port of call for those interested in local government. We welcome feedback, so do please go on to the site and tell its publisher, Matt Hobley, your views.' He can be contacted at publisher@localgov.co.uk The MJ also introduces this week new columnists, Westminster City Council leader, Sir Simon Milton; ex-Capita chairman, Rod Aldridge; and ex-BBC political editor in the North West Jim Hancock. They join regulars including Nick Raynsford, Ben Page, John Ransford and Claire Fox. The MJ also this week launches its new column for district councils, District View, on p18, and The MJ Finance page in our news section on p9.
