Welfare ministers are examining the possibility of a social housing broadband tariff to help ensure 80% of Universal Credit applications are made online by 2017.

Iain Duncan Smith, welfare and pensions secretary, told MPs on 11 September the drive to make broadband available to older and other vulnerable people on low incomes β€˜is a crusade as much as anything else'.
