Welsh Tories want change of law to curb executive pay hikes

Conservatives on the Welsh Assembly call for a change in the law to stop council chief executives recommending their own pay rises.

Conservatives on the Welsh Assembly have called for a change in the law to stop council chief executives recommending their own pay rises.

The move follows the recent controversy at Caerphilly CBC, after a report recommended increasing the salary of the chief executive, Anthony O'Sullivan, from £132,000 to £158,000. Councillors agreed to a compromise arrangement on 18 January, with a rise of 4% for the chief executive's salary, up to £137,000.
