Welwyn Hatfield DC is shedding its second in command as part of a streamlining process. Melinda Davies, the borough’s deputy chief executive since 2003, is to be made redundant at the end of October, after 18 years working for the authority. The council’s chief executive, Michel Saminaden, said: ‘The decision was not made lightly and it will be sad to see Ms Davies go. There will be other changes within the council, as the process to streamline services and reduce costs is ongoing. ‘However, the council is also creating posts in order to improve frontline services and customer satisfaction.’
