Police will not be taking action following allegations of electoral irregularities in West Lancashire after receiving reassurances from two political parties. West Lancashire DC revealed a police investigation has been dropped despite nomination form inaccuracies at the local elections. Lancashire Constabulary confirmed no charges will be brought after investigating complaints relating to the nomination process for the district elections on 1 May. This was despite the fact that in two wards, Moorside and Derby, Conservative and Labour nominations respectively were not in accordance with Electoral Commission guidance. A spokesman for West Lancashire DC said: βIt was the view no further action should be taken as undertakings were given on behalf of both parties to improve practice and procedure.'
