Tarquin, stop shivering – you do make such a fuss. You know mummy likes to have the air conditioning on in the car when it's this warm so you should have brought a jumper with you. It is not child abuse – it is keeping cool in our glorious summer. And no, I don't care if you do report me to social services. What are they going to do exactly, insist I put the heating on? Besides, look at how bad councils are at looking after people. They have all sorts of children and old people dying at their hands. And hospitals – just think about how many people go into hospital and end up dead. Were they dead when they went in there? No they were not. Honestly, you don't get that sort of thing happening in private hospitals. Just nice bed linen, better food and a superior class of patient – those are the kind of things that make people feel better. No Mid Staffordshire hospitals in the private sector, I can tell you. I read that the council wanted to take over some of the hospital work in Staffordshire – can you imagine? You'd have nurses locking the patients up in the cupboard under the stairs, and social workers telling them it's all just fine and dandy. No, give it all to the private sector, I say. You didn't see Kate give birth to our future King on the NHS and you wouldn't catch me dead in an NHS hospital. I want a nice display of lilies in the foyer and a decent cup of tea in the afternoon. What's that, Tarquin? Well, yes they do have nice blankets, too. No – you cannot have a nice blanket to sit in the car – it is summer, for goodness sake. Tarquin, no!
