The deal between Newham LBC and West Ham United FC over London's Olympic Stadium collapsed this week, following delays caused by legal challenges.
With the £80m stadium-sharing deal between the council and the football club now in tatters, questions have once again been raised over the long-term future of the 80,000-seat athletics arena. The stadium will now remain entirely in public ownership – potentially leaving taxpayers to foot the full conversion bill after next year's games, although officials said they could still lease the site to a football club.
