Party leaders ain’t what they used to be.There was a time when we had real leaders. Right battleaxes, like Thatcher or Churchill. Crafty sods like that Wilson. Now these leaders all look the same, all about 14 years old, never had a job in the real world, full-time political trainspotters. Cameron, Clegg, and now Miliband. The three clones. Why should we pay a jot of notice to what they say? Their entire work experience has been about handing the right clipboard to the right minister and making sure their ministerial Jag arrives on time.If you looked at their CVs, they’d say: ‘Born somewhere posh in southern England. Went to nice school, then Oxford. Took responsibility for minister’s paper clips. Handed seat as MP. Elected leader, aged 22.’Now they think they can run the country. As far as I’m concerned, they can sling their hooks. I live in the real world, ducking and diving, trying to earn a living after the politicians have made a complete pig’s ear of the economy. And it’s no wonder they’ve made such a complete and utter mess when all the MPs were only interested in the taxpayers’ trough and the leaders, who are supposed to be in charge of them, are just about old enough to shave.Let them play with their toys while the rest of us deal with the real world…
