Isle of Wight Council has chosen Vinci Concessions and Ringway as its preferred bidder for an £800m highways PFI contract.
The deal will see the contractors upgrade the island's road, footway and cycleway network, maintain its CCTV network, and install low-energy LED bulbs in all streetlights.
