The leader of Stoke-on-Trent City Council has warned the local authority is caught ‘between a rock and a hard place' over a deal to rescue struggling Port Vale Football Club.

Cllr Mohammed Pervez told The MJ the council stood to lose around £1.4m, if it voted in favour next week of an offer by businessman, Keith Ryder, to buy the club.
