The London legal syndicate set up by five councils is set to deliver significant cost savings with more local authorities indicating an interest in joining. The venture, set up to tender for barrister services, has attracted bids from 75 of the UK's top chambers. The current contract is to provide shared legal services for Brent, Ealing. Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow and Hounslow LBCs. Interest from Camden, Hillingdon and Islington LBCs could pave the way for an extensive London-wide buying consortium. Brent LBC's borough solicitor Terry Osborne said, ‘Barristers will be contacted by the relevant council and engaged according to price and experience in a field, ensuring value for money and expert knowledge for councils.'
