Tracey Lee, chair of the Association of Local Authority Chief Executives (ALACE), said the union was aware of some ‘really horrendous cases' of abuse that had real impact on those concerned.
A report last month by Solace found 92% of chief execs and senior officers experienced poor or inappropriate behaviour by councillors during the past three years, with 52% believing standards are getting worse.
