Regional pay is an ‘attack on women', because 65% of all public sector workers are female, the GMB trade union has warned.
GMB figures this week highlighted the proportion of female public sector workers in each region of England. In the West Midlands, almost 69% of all public sector employees are female. Redcar and Cleveland has the highest proportion of women working in the sector, at 71.6%.
