Cllr Andrew Povey has become the new leader of the Conservative group at Surrey CC – the ‘worst' CPA county in the country – replacing Cllr Nick Skellett. Cllr Skellet, who stepped down after 12 years leading the Tory group, will remain leader of the council until June. The MJ revealed he would not stand as leader again when it emerged the council was due to slip to a single star CPA rating. Cllr Povey will then stand as the Conservative group's nominee to be leader of the council in June's elections.
