Yorkshire's cities have become more ‘economically resilient' in the last 10 years, according to new research. The report, commissioned by Yorkshire Cities, shows each of the nine Yorkshire cities has become economically stronger since the late 1990s, making them better-placed to respond to the current recession than they would have been in the late 1990s. Paul Rogerson, chief executive of Leeds City Council, who chairs the Yorkshire Cities partnership, said: ‘This important study shows what councils can achieve when they act together.' The research also finds that, taken together, the Yorkshire cities are stronger than the average of 60 urban areas across England.
