Birmingham given one-year ultimatum

Birmingham City Council has been given a year to turn itself around or face further intervention, following the publication of a review into the council. 

The report has warned that Birmingham is in danger of losing its position as Britain’s second city, as places like Manchester push ahead with economic growth. Birmingham lacks the leadership and vision to compete and is not helping residents get the skills and training they need.
