Bond issue a ‘grown-up moment’ for councils

The issuing of the first bond by the UK Municipal Bonds Agency (UKMBA) is a 'grown-up moment for local authorities,’ former chairman of the Local Government Association, Sir Merrick Cockell, has said.

Within hours, the long-awaited debut bond raised £350m on behalf of Lancashire CC and was oversubscribed by 200%.
