Central Government is missing the bigger picture

It may not feel quite like it when you work in local government, but the Great Recession ended nearly a decade ago. Although austerity is another matter.

Now, some economists are starting to predict we are likely to go back into recession next year. In an interview with Bloomberg this week, economist Mariana Mazzucato claimed the issue is consumption – and it’s a problem before you even add in the Brexit effect.
