Labour would ‘reverse the Tory decade of austerity for local government’ and aim to restore council spending powers to 2010 levels by 2024 if elected.
The party’s manifesto also pledged a ‘radical decentralisation of power in Britain’ – giving powers and funding to every region of the UK - while building a ‘comprehensive’ National Care Service for England to ‘end the social care crisis’.
