Government intervention threat over code flouters

The Government has warned councils could be subject to statutory intervention if they continue to ignore the prudential framework.

Responding to a Public Accounts Committee report, which called on the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) to be ‘more active in its oversight’ of the framework, the department said it was ‘considering a range of interventions’ including the ‘potential for statutory intervention’.
