LGA backs deprivation in fair funding row

The Local Government Association (LGA) has broken its silence to back the importance of deprivation in the fair funding debate that threatens to divide the sector.

Wading in to the debate around whether to include deprivation as a cost driver in the foundation formula, the LGA, which had been aiming to balance the views of the various sector groups, backed the view of urban councils.
