LGA chief says COVID response was hampered by 'disregard' for local government

A future inquiry into the handling of the pandemic will find the ‘relative disregard for local government’ hampered the response, the Local Government Association chief executive has claimed.

Speaking at the Solace virtual learning week, Mark Lloyd said he had no doubt the findings in years to come would suggest the lack of trust for local authorities hindered central government’s ability to act.
