LGA must show teeth as it beefs up peer review

The Local Government Association’s peer review is, in some ways, a testament to wider problems within local government. A glowing press release issued alongside more detailed documents often highlights all the best bits. But the sector is generally light on the negatives.

There’s often increased financial stability, support for sector-led improvement, a strong senior management team and highly motivated and passionate staff. All good. But you need to scratch beneath the surface to find the true grit in any LGA review.
