Former Oldham MBC leader Jim McMahon may have chosen one of the more turbulent points of political history to take up a post as an MP, but so far things are going well. He became an MP in 2015, and shadow local government minister for devolution in 2016.
Now he has been reappointed as the shadow spokesman for local government on devolution, but his role has been expanded to include local government finance as well. He is part of the new Labour line up headed by Andrew Gwynne as shadow communities secretary, with Yvonne Fovargue and Stephen Morgan.
